George was gracious enough to respond to some of our speaker introduction questions. Please find below responses from George

1.What attracted you to speaking at #ATAGTR2017 this year?

2.What are you most looking forward to at this year’s conference?

Conversations. That’s what I love about conferences in general–the conversations with people to learn what they are doing, what problems they face, and what successes they are having. I love seeing the world from their point of view. I like speculating on future possibilities with them.I’m also excited to go back to India. I’ve only been once, five years ago. I found it very alive and engaging, and I have high expectations for this trip.

3.Who is your inspiration? Please share some lines about the same.

I have many, but I have to say one of my biggest influences is Jerry Weinberg. I have had the pleasure of knowing him for a dozen years and having read his books before that. He introduced me to the work of Virginia Satir, whom I never had the opportunity to meet. He has helped me organize what I already knew and triggered new understandings. The talk I am giving would certainly not exist without his influence.

4.#ATAGTR2017 is organizing one of the most unique competition called as AutomATAhon (Hackathon for Testers). Details are there on the following URL : http://gtr.agiletestingalliance.org/automatahon.html. Do you think this is a great idea ? Please suggest.

It sounds like it will be a lot of fun for the participants, and will give them an opportunity to show off their technical skills. As with all short-term events, it might lead people to focus on speed over long-term value. And with the artificial nature of the competition, there probably won’t be an opportunity to show the value of testing during the early discussions with the business about what they want to achieve. There’s a huge amount of value when you shift testing all the way left into requirements definition.I’ll be interested to see how it plays out.

Thanks George for being candid about the queries. We welcome him to #ATAGTR2017!
